Structural addition is a great way to increase your home's footprint

Sometimes, you outgrow your home — but not your neighborhood. When your family is expanding, and the walls of your beloved home start to feel like they're closing in, moving isn't your only option. Why leave behind a community you love, when you can build up and out instead?

That's exactly what we did in our latest project in Langley — and the results speak for themselves.

This once modest 2,200-square-foot home has been reimagined and expanded into a modern, spacious 2,800-square-foot residence — thanks to a bold two-story structural addition that blends seamlessly with the existing architecture while bringing fresh, contemporary style.

The crown jewel of this expansion? A sprawling 40' x 16' master bedroom and ensuite, complete with vaulted ceilings that open up the space with light and grandeur. Beneath it, we built a 40' x 18' drive-through garage — perfect for both function and flexibility. To top it all off, a large covered back deck with vaulted ceilings and skylights creates a perfect outdoor retreat, rain or shine.

This wasn't just an upgrade — it was a full-scale transformation. From foundation to finishing touches, this project brought together every discipline of our construction and renovation expertise. Whether it was concrete forming, structural framing, intricate timber beam installations, or energy-efficient electrical upgrades, no detail was too small to be perfected.

Some highlights of this extensive project include:

  • Two-storey structural addition featuring a 40' x 18' drive-through garage and an expansive 40' x 16' master suite with walk-in closet and vaulted ceiling
  • All-new HVAC system and ductwork, paired with a furnace upgrade for year-round comfort
  • 200-amp electrical service upgrade with rewiring throughout the existing home and addition
  • All-new black energy-efficient windows, modern interior and exterior doors, and custom wood trim
  • Vaulted front entry supported by gorgeous fir timber posts and beams
  • New duroid roofing and standing seam metal roofing on lower levels
  • New exterior finishings, including Hardie shake and lap siding, white beaded vinyl soffits, and black railings with a privacy screen
  • Comprehensive insulation upgrades, including R50 attic insulation for improved energy efficiency
  • Complete interior remodel, with new drywall, custom painting throughout, and new laminate flooring across the upstairs
  • Concrete sidewalks and a welcoming new front entry

What makes this project even more rewarding is the trust we've earned along the way — two more homeowners in the area have reached out after seeing the quality of our work here.

At Wesbrook, we don't just renovate homes — we reimagine what's possible, especially when it means preserving what our clients love while giving them the space to grow. Transforming this older home into a modern family sanctuary wasn't just a project — it was a privilege.
