Wesbrook Construction recently wrapped up a rewarding project in North Vancouver, where we had the opportunity to contribute to a 220-unit upscale condominium development by Mosaic Homes. Our role? Designing and building four grand entrance timber canopy roofs—one for each of the four striking new condo towers—as well as a custom mail kiosk in the community area.
With the final hammer struck just this week, we’re incredibly proud of the craftsmanship that went into these structures.
There’s something undeniably timeless about massive timber beams, masterfully interlocked and soaring overhead. When juxtaposed with sleek, modern architecture, their beauty is only amplified.
Each of the 38 rafters is constructed from pre-stained glulam (glued laminated timber) with fir tongues, joined together using steel knife plates. Topped with standing seam metal roofing, these canopies are built to endure for decades. Exposed beam tips are protected with precision-cut aluminum flashings, while groove decking used for the soffits adds both texture and durability—resulting in a virtually maintenance-free design.
Oh, and let’s not forget the concrete columns that support them—they were custom built as well. We wrapped them in stone veneers carefully selected to match the complex’s architectural finishes, meeting design specs down to the last detail.
Next time you’re driving along Mountain Highway in the Lynn Valley area, take a moment to look up—you might just find yourself inspired by the timeless elegance of West Coast timber craftsmanship. We know we are.
