On the south bank of the scenic Pitt River sits Amrize Quarries, a 70-hectare aggregate facility that has operated since the mid-1960s and continues to supply essential materials to the region's construction industry. As part of the site's ongoing modernization program, Wesbrook is proud to be constructing a new scale house and office unit to improve traffic flow, efficiency, and worker comfort.

The original structure - a 60-foot trailer - had reached the end of its service life. To prepare for the upgrade, the trailer was split, with a 30-foot section demolished and the remaining portion earmarked for a complete transformation. The goal: convert the older unit into a modern, comfortable, and functional workspace equipped with a full washroom, a bay window for truck operators to exchange scale tickets, and durable commercial-grade vinyl plank flooring.

Before rebuilding, the structure was stripped down to the studs and reframed to a compact and efficient 24' × 12' footprint. This work had to be completed while the scale system remained fully operational - no small feat, given that trucks continuously enter and exit the site to weigh in and out with their aggregate loads.

Wesbrook's team installed new electrical wiring, drywall, baseboards, windows, and trims, along with a new exterior door. A sanitary tank was added beneath the building, and the exterior is being finished with long-lasting Hardie board siding designed to withstand demanding industrial environments.

Working in the midst of a high-traffic quarry - where hundreds of trucks move through the site each day - requires rigorous safety planning, precise scheduling, and clear communication. Thanks to Wesbrook's strong safety record and extensive experience with industrial retrofit projects, construction has progressed smoothly and efficiently.

The new scale house is on track for completion before the end of the year, supporting Amrize Quarries' continued commitment to modern, safe, and reliable operations.
